27 August 2008 | ENGINEER WELCOMES: SOUND&SHAPE

For Immediate Release:<br> Nashville, Tennessee's SOUND&SHAPE join the Engineer Records roster to release their soon-to-be timeless "The Love Electric" EP. Adventurous in a way only SOUND&SHAPE know best, this compelling EP is set to blow minds. We're not jesting...we truly believe SOUND&SHAPE are planting the seeds to a long career ahead. Armed with an insight and musicianship beyond their years, alongside a bombastic quality to their live set that leaves most jaws dropped, SOUND&SHAPE are a blue-collar progressive rock band, wearing their hearts on their sleeves, and machine guns under their coats.
This EP is a taste of what is to come. With already a boundless amount of music to stand behind, SOUND&SHAPE released their first full-length, the enveloping "Where Machines End Their Lives" thru local label Smith7 Records, and hit the road relentlessly. (220 shows in 2006). They've continued on this path supporting their ambitious debut from coast to coast and back again in the continental US during 2007 and 2008, all the while writing and recording what was to become "The Love Electric" EP, as well as an entire second set of songs to be recorded over the Winter of '08/'09 which will make up their next full-length.
While searching for a new label, mutual friend and We're All Broken guitarist Frank Giokas caught wind, an introduction was made, and not much more convincing was needed than a few listens to the pre-masters of songs which would shape "The Love Electric." A partnership was born, Engineer Records welcomes SOUND&SHAPE to the family. A January release is set for this EP, and the turn of the year couldn't come soon enough. Keep an eye out on the road, SOUND&SHAPE will be headed your way shortly.

10 June 2008 | FREE The Blackout Argument EP

Passing on...A LETTER FROM THE BAND:
Dear lovers & fighters,
In times when the music industry is stumbling across its own feet, it is time to break new ground. As a band you have 2 choices, you either play the game by the old rules hoping you’re one of the few at the mercy of the old marketing and promotion strategies. Or you can trailblaze your own pathway through the ever-changing music business jungle.
Sounds a lot like biz-talk, but in the end it’s all about you, the fan, the listener, the fuel that keeps The Blackout Argument running. We have toured with Boy Sets Fire, Parkway Drive, This is Hell, just to name a few, played shows all over Europe, we have various releases out on great independent labels, a ongoing record deal with Lifeforce Records, got massive press attention all over the place, worked with some of the most renowned designers and have a long list of partners and supporters. Yet still, this is all about you. It’s you who we are trying to reach with our message and music.
To go the most direct way without detour to your hearts and ears we decided to release a FREE DOWNLOAD EP on June 1, 2008. It’s titled “Smile Like A Wolf” and contains 5 brand new and exclusive songs, by the way the first recordings with Roughael, our new singer. No fees, no email-registration, no myspace friend requests requiery or any other bullshit. Just go to SMILELIKEAWOLF.com and download the songs for free alongside a complete cd artwork and lyrics.
We put at least as much effort in "Smile Like A Wolf" as in any other release we put out so far. We spent hours and hours at the practice place, later on in the studio, forced our most drastic life experiences into lyrics, got Dave Quiggle (Rise And Fall, Sick of it All, Atreyu, War of Ages, etc.) to do the artwork and Milchglas Media to do the web development, to make sure “Smile Like A Wolf” is gonna fully satisfy us and you. This is our hearts and our lives, this is what we love to do and this is what we want to share with you, the fan, the listener, the fuel that keeps us running.
Chris, Sascha, Phil, Roughael, Chris

20 May 2008 | SEAWEED TRIBUTE samples streaming
A quick bit of news to announce the release date for the Hours and Hours: A Tribute To Seaweed on Engineer Records is rapidly approaching (June 24, 2008). We'd begun streaming tracks a few weeks ago in bunches of two, rotating through our MySpace player. Kicking it off first was Killwhitneydead and The Company We Keep (Treos/Moneen), though we've recently swapped them out with Kane Hodder's rendition of "Stagger" and The Fire Stil Burns' version of "Crush Us All". (You can still hear the initial two streaming from the band's own respective MySpace pages). We'll update you every two weeks as we swap out streaming leading up to--and beyond this release. There will also be a special "Pre-Order" going up on the web (three seperate places, UK, USA, Can) starting June 1st, for anyone desiring the tribute a little earlier along a little something extra. Detail coming shortly.

7 January 2008 | Apple Update 2008, and we're not talking ipods!
Another NEW YEAR'S UPDATE, this time from Apple of Discord's James Cuartero..."Since the release of "You're Not The Answer", Nolan bought a new house and has a baby on the way in April, Brian got a new dog and Mike's been taking guitar lessons from someone in Cinderella. I've been playing some solo shows, went hiking in the Delaware Water Gap and have had my car jimmied open by a one-legged locksmith and no less than three police officers on two separate occasions.
Response to the album has been great and we are checking into the studio next month to start putting down tracks for our next release, tentatively titled Nothing Is Possible.
I once read an interview with Christina Aguilera where she said her songs were about "you know, hangin' out, havin' fun". She may as well have been talking about these tracks. At the moment it is going to be four rock songs and two sleepy ones. You can check out the latest acoustic demo for a song called "We Will Not Be Stars" at myspace.com/jamesxoxo.
KIT,
James (Apple of Discord)
7 January 2008 | 2008 SHRODINGER update!
Hey Engineer fans! Top of the New Year to you...We asked our good pals at Schrodinger Records for an update on some of our co-conspirator artists...so here we go. An update from Shrodinger Records for 2008:
The last year has proved to be a difficult one for Shrodinger Records. A lot of our Engineer Records co-released bands have parted ways and those that have not have led a fairly secluded 2007. Bodies! has since split up and Nick D. has started a new project with some of the former members of Bodies!, check it out at Slithering Beast. Sadly, Ayin has also split up, some of the previous members are now playing in Foxy Shazam go take a peak at them as well. Squarewell has also since been deceased, with members filling up other projects like Lincoln and the Lost Prayers, Collisionary, and a new band named Selu which will feature several members of Squarewell.
We're also going to be releasing a compilation of several Shrodinger Records bands in the Spring of 2008 with a few surprise releases from bands not formally on Shrodinger Records. We hope everyone enjoys this as the plan is to make it free for everyone and we will hopefully be getting copies to the Engineer Records folks to give out with all orders.
We appreciate everything from everyone, check out the web site Shrodinger Records for any other updates.
24 December 2007 | Red Light Green Light update
Rockaway, New Jersey's <b>RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT </b>are going into the studio to start pre-production on a long overdue 2nd full length. The band is very stoked about the new songs and will also include a few re-worked, re-recorded, older songs. RLGL hopes the new cd will be ready for a Spring or early Summer release and be followed by non-stop touring. Currently, RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT has an upcoming tour w/ JET LAG GEMINI (Doghouse Records) and LADY RADIATOR (Emrald Moon Records). If you are still warming up to RLGL now, you will be hot on them in '08, they promise you!19 December 2007 | FINAL PMFS SHOW ANNCMT

12 December 2007 | off to PRESSING!
2 December 2007 | Live SEAWEED footage wanted NOW!
"Classic" FAN FOOTAGE of SEAWEED wanted!* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
We'd like to send out a public request for anyone that had their video camera's out in the 90s and shot some SEAWEED footage at a live concert big or small.
As previously noted, there were just a couple bands dropping last minute from the HOURS AND HOURS: A TRIBUTE TO SEAWEED cd, and with not a hell of a lot of time left, we were thinking of a worthwhile way to fill up the rest of the data on this CD, and make an extra special feature for the fans. This idea is to add an enhanced video feature to the tribute of SEAWEED in their blood, sweat, and glory ripping it up on a stage somewhere (anywhere) for their fans. Our aim is to include a small Quicktime file of this, as an added bonus feature.
'
FANS: If you have footage like this, please get in touch with craig@engineerrecords.com ASAP for consideration. Please be able to send on DVD or a private web link. (if "private" is possible on the web nowadays). We'll be going through the submissions and choosing a live song we feel best suitable. Of course this is open to any era of Seaweed, though we'll start with the old and then entertain the new if we can't find a presentable feature. Of course you will get name/link credit in the liner notes of the this tribute if we choose your video, as well as a bunch of complimentary copies and also a copy of every Engineer CD & Vinyl we still have in print and available in our webstore.
Thanks/Cheers
Craig & David of Engineer Records

Catch them once again, while you can. You can read their official statement and jot down the tourdate nearest you by heading over to www.PMFS.net. Go NOW.26 September 2007 | Weed Changes
Just a minor update here at Engineer regarding the Seaweed tribute, HOURS AND HOURS: A TRIBUTE TO SEAWEED. Due to scheduling conflicts, we have lost THIS IS HELL. They will no longer be a part of the tribute, and unfortunately, we are sad to see them go. They would've ripped a great cover version. In similar news, two changes have been made to the final line-up. Dallas Green of Alexisonfire had to withdraw on his collaborative track with Brian Southall of The Receiving End of Sirens, but in a quick switch of the hat, Kenny Bridges of Canada's MONEEN will be taking his place and is already recording his vocals over their chosen track. They will be going under Brian's solo identity "THE COMPANY WE KEEP" in which he plans too do more solo material in the future. Lastly, Ryan Mills of KOVER is now recording his contribution as a solo effort as his bandmates in Kover could not get their track worked out in their time off/with side projects going on. To hear some of Ryan's previous solo work, you can go here: http://www.myspace.com/ryanmillsmusicThank You fore your patience, just wait until you hear these tracks. We have about 25% of the final tracks in, with the bulk of them due here over the next 2 weeks. An early 2008 release is still on the table.

5 June 2007 | SPEAKYOURHEART and MY SO CALLED LIFE
Two good, melodic and rocking band releases from the UK. SPEAKYOURHEART and MY SO CALLED LIFE are out in the UK now. Soon to be in the USA webstore as well, and at your fingertips. Reminding you possibly of Cap 'N Jazz's off kilter moments, SPEAKYOURHEART's vocals remain fragile and tilting, yet their music is tight and rhythmic, and highly acoustic based. Don't be fooled, it packs a punch. My So Called Life need little introduction, as they have been touring for ages now, and probably played in your backyard at some point. No stranger to foreign shores, these melodic men want you to sing-along to their also Illinois-tinted sound. Seaweed started out releasing material on their own Leopard Gecko imprint in 1989, before moving onto a vinyl single with K Records, signing to Sub Pop a few years later for their career building albums "Despised," "Weak," and "Four." Then Hollywood Records picked the band up in 1993 and released their largest album to date, 1995's "Spanaway," their bombastic major label offering. Lasting only 1 album on Hollywood, the band and label unhitched and Seaweed then moved back to the indies. Merge Records issued their final release in 1999, "Actions and Indications" turned into their swan song and the band split later the same year. Seaweed's decade of existence came to an end.
Seaweed's live show was impressive--they played their particular brand of post- Black Flag, Dischord-esque, Minneapolis-tinged rock (Okay, a hint of the mighty Grunge as well) with such zeal, they could have wrung their shirts into a cup after every show. By the time they decided to call it quits, Seaweed had seen about 300,000 faces, and rocked almost all of them.
"Seaweed has been an important role-player of both myself and my partner David (Engineer/Ignition Recs) in not only our label, but musically for both of us as well over the years. An impression was made in our formative years, that still hangs on us, just as strong to this day. They were a post-hardcore landmark in the 90's next to the likes of Quicksand, Samiam and Jawbox and easily just as vital in their own way. Remembering how much I wore out "Four" and "Spanaway" is as easy as reciting the alphabet. I'm definitely a die-hard fan. I hold high regard to their sense of jagged melody, charge, and just plain gut permeating Seaweed's catalogue of releases.
We'll be soliciting some bands personally, and also are open to submission requests. Please check with us first via email (craig@engineerrecords.com), and please, don't go record a cover song and waste your money before getting the "OK." Be prepared to have quality recordings of YOUR band ready to hear either via link or CD. Yes we are judging you on the quality you can produce, not the popularity of your band. There will be a limited number of slots of course. Most importantly, please be a fan of the band, not just trying to land a slot, as there is a reason this is a tribute. Not to add any pressure, but it's quite likely a few Seaweed members will hear ya too. We've caught up with them and have their approval for the project intact. We're keeping in touch along the way."

30 March 2007 | Congrats Blackout Argument!
So, BIG NEWS in the BLACKOUT ARGUMENT camp. We wanted to share with you, some very intense news from one of our fave heavy bands here, the BLACKOUT ARGUMENT. Since selling out of the "Munich Angst" EP, the Blackout Argument decided it was onward and upward and we mutually agreed it would be a great leap for them! They fucking rock, so shit, ya just can't stop the rock from rolling. We are proud to have worked with them on their first EP, which is now re-released with revamped packaging courtesy of Bastardized Recordings. (As if their initial EP didn't look killer enough!) If that wasn't enough, breaking news is that Lifeforce just signed them on for a full-length coming out later this year, and they've just been tapped for a slot opening the Boy Sets Fire on their farewell European tour. Check out the links below for some new sounds, visuals, news and hype from BLACKOUT ARGUMENT!new E-card.

24 January 2007 | Lost and Found
FOR THOSE LOST ANNOUNCEMENT:Word just in from the band, here it is:
"So, unfortunately the time has come and now gone where the band has had to part ways with vocalist and founding member, Leigh Cripps. He's made the responsible, if hard, decision to leave because he's gonna be a Dad soon. Whilst this has affected the band hugely, we have to carry on and we've roped in a new guy to fill Leigh's slot.
His name is GILLON LOCKETT, he's 25, and was previously in a band called 'Cavity'. He's from the Bracknell, Berkshire UK area (home of Ali G) and has heaps of experience and a voice that will rip your face off! Its a cross between Cory Brandan from Norma Jean, Dani Filth and even Eddie Vedder! Gil loves his Sat Nav and likes sleeping in cars, which means he'll be fine on tour given the sleeping conditions we had in the fuckin van last year!
While we're glad he's joined the FTL family, we hope that the local scene and community who know us give him time to gel into the band and that they remember he's NOT Leigh, will ALWAYS be different and have his own touch - but this is an opportunity for the band to progress to pastures new."

6 December 2006 | Welcome to the team.
Germany's ADJUDGEMENT have just been added to our family. We'll expect a release out from them in the Spring, as they are hard-at-work on their debut for us. A mix of old school hardcore and punk ethic pervades, where volume and intent of the songs speak louder than any fashion trend. This guys are in it for real having been together over a decade and having the track record to prove it.

16 October 2006 | Fanning the Flames? Hopefully not Forever.
Words from Belgium's beloved CORNFLAMES:Hello everyone,
Well, it's true. Cornflames have decided to go on 'indefinite hiatus.' We might come back, we might not. The only thing we know right now is that we had a beautiful 10 years as a band playing together, but most of all as friends making new friends all over the world.
Although some of us already started doing new projects (check out Nuns Go Riot, Out of the Band,...), we found some time to rehearse to give you the ultimate Cornflames show (with guests, older songs,...). It will all take place on Saturday, October 21st. We invited four amazing bands that we love-to-death because of their excellent music, but most for being great friends all over the years. On the night we will also be DJ'ing and giving away free drinks!
Let this show be a big "THANK YOU" to all of you!
See you there!

The Cambridge show was probably the best of the lot and we need to thank the sound-guy there. He was a genuinely cool bloke and has promised to help us out in the future. We even went swimming in Cambridge 'coz it was an excuse to use the showers! Though Leigh's TIGHT-ASS shorts were great to see too!
Oli hasnt stopped fuckin' talking the entire time - we're sure he has un-diagnosed ADHD! Its either "How do you think the show went?" or "Anyone up for a kebab?" or "Waaaaaaaaaabs!" or just anything! Gaz has become the fastest mobile-phone porn distributor in the west, something that Neil and Simon took FULL advantage of!
All in all, a fuckin good time! We need to thank Try Drowning for sorting us the Ipswich show (TRY DROWNING are an awesome band from Holland - kinda Minus The Bear meets Hopesfall, check em out...myspace.com/trydrowning) and we need to thank Alex in Ipswich for being kind enough to put us on and send us good luck texts for other shows! Legend!"
Engineer Records would like to welcome Rockaway, New Jersey's own thrash-party-hardcore band RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT to the upcoming 3-way split featuring Dallas, Texas' SABOTEUR and Kent, England's THE MOCKINGBIRD NIGHTMARE. (see previous post below)
Red Light Green Light features former Hidden In Plain View drummer Derek Reilly on lead vox in a high-impact band playing an intense mix of Refused, Beastie Boys and The Blood Brothers like mayhem. With both rich, sugary chorus and shredding breakdowns, fleshed out with keys and a few blast-beats, their commanding live set is an indicator of who owns the room their standing in. This band seriously knows how to throw (and throw down at) a party.
The band will record new material for this split CD at the end of the month and has also just self-released a full-length called "Music Theory Is For Suckers" on FTC Records. Both Saboteur (members of Slowride/Red Animal War) and The Mockingbird Nightmare have already completed 3 new tracks each. This 3-way split on Engineer is headed for a late Fall/early Winter release, and will feature multi-media by all three bands.
For now, visit their Myspace pages:
The Blackout Argument's CD "Munich Angst" has been released in Euro, Germany, etc...and USA to follow soon after. A celebratory gig was slammed full of people and this is what guitarist Christoph had to say:
Taking a much needed break from final production of the Engineer Records DVD compilation, Michael Mead of Cross The Floor Productions and Craig of Engineer, spend time with farm animals. Using the remainder of their budget, an extensive vacation to the BRONX ZOO was taken as nothing relaxes the mind and gives back a genuine sense of humanity than feeding Goatmeal to a few hungry kids...especially after watching rising punk rockers and metal heads beat their chests like gorillas, over and over again, on film. (note: The DVD should be with us this Fall, for a back to school treat.)

After more than a decade together, a letter from Chuck Ragan suggests that Hot Water Music's extended break is now a break up. In the letter, Ragan explains:
My friends, Hot Water Music as we all knew it is no longer. A great chapter in our lives has come to a close. We must say so long, and farewell. This is not to say by any means that we will never take a stage again together or find our way onto some tracks together, but where we are in our lives at this moment, it won't be anytime soon.
He goes on to talk about some of his future plans, including a "long overdue" solo record. Former bandmate Jason Black also had a short letter addressing Chuck's comments and talking about the split and the future. For the entirety of both, you can click Read More.
In a moving world, some days shine and some days burn. We more so accept than create random acts of movement. Those acts of movement make us who we are. At some point they become intentional means of survival. Then as we all know, sooner or later it becomes a survival where we see fit.
My friends, Hot Water Music as we all knew it is no longer. A great chapter in our lives has come to a close. We must say so long, and farewell.
Early in the days of all of this I never thought to question outcomes or reactions to my actions. I did what I did and was fueled by words from loved ones, a drive for life and an undying misery of always being on the cusp of understanding (or not), our disarray of society. I found purpose and strength through my best friends, music, and a quest for the truth. Throughout that journey, I became who I am today. I also found the day in and day out monotony of the road and the "job" that HWM had become, had taken a serious toll. Just as I have done throughout my life when my heart turns in a direction for the sake of well being, I followed it. HWM has always been to me living true, free and unbound. Stay true to who you are to begin with and you'll be true to who you are in the end.
This is a letter primarily directed to all of our fans, family, and friends. A lot of you have been left in the dark as to why we decided to stop touring as HWM in the first place. For this I must apologize. Though this letter should have happened a while back, it has taken us all a bit of time to acclimate to where we are in life. Stepping off a moving merry-go-round if you will. I must say overall this is a letter of gratitude, as well as a letter to expel any rumors or things that have lead anyone in the wrong direction as far as what has, is and will be taking place in the life of song for all of us.
This is mainly a public announcement to let everyone know that we have all moved into different directions within our personal and professional lives. As far as our own music goes none of us are slowing down in anyway. George, Jason, and Chris are moving full steam ahead with The Draft as their primary focus and I'm paddling my own canoe. I'm working on a solo record that's long overdue and having a damn good time with it. I'll play shows, but for making my way and a living, I'm called to cutting big sticks into little sticks. For me in many ways, wood has all the same properties as music. I have just as much passion for shaping and working wood as I do playing my guitar or writing a song. They're one in the same and don't even get me started on fishing! So the music will never die, just evolve. I'm moving on a different plane. Ready to settle down, write more songs, make more records, catch more fish, make love and babies with my sweet wife, slide sideways down mountains, build large structures that I draw on paper, and grow more food than we buy. So none of us are gone. Just evolved. So none of us are gone. Just evolved.
Thank you my friends for a decade of support, loyalty and dedication. Thank you for growing up with us living and learning the hard way most of the time. You made it for us. I hope we did the same for you! Thank you for the memories, the support and all of your gracious attention through all of our transitions, battles, broken sticks and strings, breakdowns and revelations that we were able to turn into music. You fueled this fire! What you taught us on this road has been absolutely priceless. I wish all the best in luck, love, and life to each and every one of you and yours. You have helped mold us into the people we are today and it will never be forgotten.
Take care of each other. --------------------------------------
It's definitely not easy to end something that was such a large part of our lives for so long, but it is most definitely time to put the beast to bed. We always said that we would go out when things were still good and true, and hopefully we did. There's nothing worse than watching a band you love go through the motions, aside from being in that band.
To wrap this up, I ask one thing of you all—don't make this anything other than it is. People make difficult decisions everyday. It's not easy to leave something behind or to start something over. That is all that happened here. There is no bullshit drama between, so please don't create any.
We sincerely hope that you all find time to follow our new projects, Chuck with his solo work and Chris, George, and myself with The Draft.
Thanks again, it was a blast.
Peace

Nathaniel is a mid-fi yet extremely prolific writer and has turned in possibly 20 recordings, while selecting his best 10 to complete his first full length offering to the indie world. Sounding exactly like a one-man-band should, this is a home recording where his ideas took shape. He captured that vibe himself, and worked every facet himself. From writing, playing, recording, mixing...you can nearly hear his hard workng gentle touch in the clever songs he completes. Fans of Sebadoh and Eric Bachman, turn your heads.
The album is off to mastering, and artwork just completed (cover below) by Joel Abad, from Grafficants Design Studio. Keep your eyes opened for this quaint release through Engineer, we're excited to see how well Nate's sound holds up to many of our usual loud rock beasts.
Click the cover to preview some demos n his myspace, while you wait.
From the band's mouth: "“Big news from ‘Munich Angst City’! We are more than happy to let you know that we have found a dedicated and strong ally to push the band to the next level. The Blackout Argument has signed to Engineer Records (www.engineerrecords.com
The artwork for the ‘Munich Angst’ EP was created by ANGRY BLUE (Lamb of God, Throwdown, Poison the Well, etc.) and INDEPENDENT INTENSIO (Ephen Rian, Side One Dummy, 11pm, etc.). The mixing and mastering was done by Philip Seidl (Flyswatter, Cashless, For Heaven’s Sake, etc.).
You have no idea how much we are looking forward to the release of ‘Munich Angst’. We will be touring all over Europe in order to support our debut ep and will surely show up in your home town as well!”

So there you have it, join into the fury, pick yourself up a copy of their disc, and tell everyone you were there when it all began.

A few words back from tour from an FTL axeman:
"So we just got back from tour this weekend and its gotta be said, "we're all for doing it again!" We had so much fun it was unreal! We did a lot of driving, but made some great friends and met some cool people and promoters in the process. There were some low points, namely struggling to sleep 5 people in the van, but other than that the good times out-weighed it all!

THE MOCKINGBIRD NIGHTMARE14 July 2006 | We.re All BACK.
Back from approx 3 months of extensive touring, Frank of We.re All Broken dropped us a status update and this is what he had to say:
"Hey everybody. We just got home a few weeks ago from our tour with Thursday, Minus The Bear, Mewithoutyou and The #12 Looks Like You. It was fantastic and we had an amazing couple months. We are home right now in New Jersey working on material that will become our next full length record. We will be in our laboratory all summer long tinkering on these new songs, coming out to play the occassional show here and there. We will be back on the road very, very soon though. We do have a new record out called "Nothing In Between" which is a collection of demos, acoustic versions, and remixes of songs off our full length "Campagin Moving Slow" as well as some old school covers. If you'd like to purchase it, you can go to http://www.loudmerch.com/webstore.php?storeid=67. It's only $5. In the meantime, check ww.wereallbroken.com for any and all updates on the band. Even bigger props go out to everyone who showed up to watch the show, dance, sing along or just to hang out with us. Mad Props also go out to the Sunny Red Crew for providing an amazing location, the kids in Wangen / Tonne and our friends in EPHEN RIAN. Last but not least we want to thank the film-team for documenting this unique event. More info on this soon! THANK YOU ALL!17 June 2006 | Goat Break

We still have very few of the original pressing colors left in the webstores, of the The Fire Still Burns limited edition 7inches, but also a newer color pressing has come in. ORANGE as well as a PINK/BLACK vinyl. All these colors still limited, and if you put them all together, damn a fine set of vinyls you will have. The Fire Still Burns is stronger than ever, having recruited a new rhythm section of Brent Hamer from Bigwig, and Chris Ross of Nora, to fill positions after Carl and Derik left to pursue other life interests. (good luck guys, wish you the best.)

We'd also like to add, that TFSB has a great CDep out via Blackout Records called "Keeping Hope Alive" and is currently recording a set of covers for 4 different compilations. Check back for more updates, or head on over to their band site at www.thefirestillburns.com.

I must say that I have never in my life ever known such a display of dedication, desire, and will to carry on than through the HWM fans around the world. I don't believe I could ever truly find the right words to express my gratitude and sincere thanks to all the amazing souls who sacrificed what they had to make it to our shows and make them live! All those who traveled, followed, escaped, sneaked in or barged in to be apart of this movement. You are all a huge reason that we survived through days that most don't. Some of you know the tolls and trials of the road. As well as the glories and lights at the end of the tunnels. Some of you may be completely oblivious as to what it can do to a spirit and a body by subjecting yourself to what can be an extremely unhealthy way of life. It can most definitely feel like your being torn apart from the inside out at times. To say the least, it can be far from glamorous most of 23 hours in a day. I must say though that the moments that I found myself amongst my best friends and a crowd of people singing and sweating, laughing and moving to words, melodies, and busted up rhythms that we created in a beat up warehouse in Florida, were nothing but pure magic. Even through the hard times we always laughed, wrote, fought, slept, drank, and rocked to found our way to why we were there to begin with. We had to. It was our duty and our responsibility to ourselves, each other as brothers and to the good people who would come to support us through all of it. A lot of you would always ask us if we were ok. How the tours were treating us. How we survived. How we did it and why we did it for so long. A lot of the times we weren't. Some of the times we were truly on top of the world. It was the calling, it was the healing, and it was the enlightenment that was felt after releasing every ounce of energy, thought, and motion throughout a show. It was as we once called it, "The Lifting." Even though at times of being there and putting ourselves through what we had to do to get up on that stage and let it rip like it was our last was more hurtful to ourselves than anything, you sacrificed for us, let us sacrifice for you.
Chuck Ragan
It's not easy to leave something behind or to start something over. That is all that happened here. There is no bullshit drama between, so please don't create any.
Clearing the air about this is a good thing, for sure. Figuring on you having read Chuck's statement, I'll feel free to reiterate his thanks to all of you who have supported us over the years. It's cliché but true—without you we wouldn't have ever been able to experience any of the amazing things we did as Hot Water Music.
Black 11 May 2006 | Kover spans North Jersey

Kover arrives with a few hours to spare, settles into their digs, strolls through Main Street, Boonton with Craig Engineer and devours some beer(light beer, unfortunately for them!), pizza and conversation. Pile in the truck, drive to New Brunswick, 40 mins South of Boonton, hook up at the venue with We.re All Broken, The Gaslight Anthem, and Outsmarting Simon and all around play a real good show at the Court Tavern, one of NB's few still standing rock clubs. Damn Hub City, where has your ROCK gone?
(digressing)...the gig: good crowd containing a bunch of NB's tried and true converted (Alf from Engineer alum The Fire Still Burns, Stanley of My Shining One, as well as dudes from Philly's Marigold and John of the old Ex Number Five (r.i.p) come in support. Hey wasn't Dan of Elemae there too? No way.) Gear share worked out, (thanks TGA, OSS, WAB). A highlight...Kover RIPPED thru their set playing 3/4 of the "Assembly" tracks and also worked their rendition of a SEAWEED song "START WITH" for all in the know, letting their roots shine through .
Leave the gig, hit a tried-and-true NJ Diner at 2:30am for some coffee and grub, and sleepdrive back to bed at 4:30.
Wake up call at 11am, pick-up at 2pm, drive back down to the Hub City and directly back to The Court Tavern for the very special "secret" LIFETIME reunion show to a packed hometown crowd. Band and Craig Engineer get in, sweat their ass off in a packed room to a set of old LT favorites, seing the Kov guys sing along. Thanks to Andy "Diamond" for the being THE MAN at the Court for the past two nights. Kudos to that guy, damn, someone buy him another beer.
After the gig, we get in the car, striaght to Fuddruckers to eat like Americans and the Kov guys mention how the average American is like 1 and a half the size of the average Canadian(go USA).
So we all gain a few pounds, head 20 mins to Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ (HUGE ASS RECORD STORE, East Coast version of Amoeba...well...as close as the east coast can get!) A handful of Cd's, Records, and even a book on "The Band" was purchased. That's it, enough fun, go to sleep.
Final morning...woke up pretty early, had a breakfast buffet at the Engineer USA humbe abode, took some pictures and shipped the Kovs back to canada at around 1pm. Classic weekend, rock and roll-- through and through--live it, love it.27 April 2006 | NEW SONGS POSTED. Send us a 'comment'

Go Team Engineer.20 April 2006 | Nathaniel Sutton moving along...
Just an update on our new singer/songwriter to join Engineer Records since the early days of Ignition. Not since the long-defunct Last Year's Diary, have we had a singular vision individual, aquaint us with his/her unique spirit and sweep us off our feet. Coming almost out of nowhere with barely a name for himself, we hope to bring Nathaniel Sutton from Edmonton, Alberta Canada to a much wider audience. (and yes, it is THAT Nathaniel...the guy who was our biggest Engineer fan...odd how paths are crossed and noticed sometimes!)

7 April 2006 | Shred To This
For those of you who haven't noticed, Engineer released a follow up record of heavy-toned mayhem, our 2nd shredder of recent memory (to follow Nine Days To No One "Ark"). What we are speaking of is the shredding new release by Basingstoke, England's FOR THOSE LOST. We've had a track up on the Engineer MySpace player, and reviews are starting to come in. The band returned from a record release show a few weeks ago with this to say:
THE SHOW SOLD OUT AND PEOPLE WERE BEING TURNED AWAY UNFORTUNATELY. THE 45 MINUTE SET INCLUDED ALL ALBUM TRACKS PLUS 4 NEWER SONGS AND A COVER OF MADBALL'S "DEMONSTRATING MY STYLE"! EVERY SONG WENT DOWN A STORM AND THE SET FLEW BY. IT WAS AWESOME. THE SOUND WAS AMAZING AND THE ENERGY FROM THE CROWD LANDED ON US MAKING US PUT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR LIVES! WE ENDED THE SHOW SIGNING CD's (WHICH IS JUST NOT COOL, BUT HAD TO BE DONE! haha) AND MAKING SOME WELL EARNED £££s!
WE WERE GUTTED THAT DAVE COULDN'T MAKE THE SHOW AND THAT CRAIG WAS IN THE STATES BUT WE HAD THEM THERE IN TRUE ENGINEER SPIRIT AND PLAYED IT OUT FOR THEM!"

16 March 2006 | Kentucky Fried Hardcore
What's in the water down in Louisville? Maybe it's not water afterall, and just vats of intense cooking oil making every band burning hot. Ok that was a terrible joke. We'll sure find out soon with the two new releases from BODIES! as well as SQUAREWELL, both whom reside in Kentucky. Full-of-life, and desperate to be heard, both bands with great new quick-shot EP's for the '06, and we couldn't be more stoked. Both bands come to us via Shrodinger Recs, we'll be getting these releases to you together. You might be familiar with Squarewell from their "Two Toy Model" full-cd we licensed and help them get to you, or even cooler, their beautiful PICTURE-DISC release we ushered as a split-deal with Koi Recs from Texas. Either way, we hope the road was paved for their new EP which should be in our hands within a month or so. Already at the pressing plant, this "self-titled" EP is 4 new tracks of honest, noisy, blues-induced indie-rock, harking back at the heydey of post hardcore. Both Rites of Spring and Rye Coalition come to mind, with a bit of an ambient bend of Mewithoutyou. Sound good? Pre-orders up soon in the DISTRO.
Onto slaying Bodies! If you haven't been hit over the head like a combat wounded veteran with the track on our Myspace player from BODIES!, then you'd better click it out of random auto-play to track 3, and put a helmet on. Recorded at Headbanging Kill Your Mama Studio by Chris Owens (LORDS), this sonic ode to classic rock HUGENESS, comes your way via the "Hurricane Bodies" EP. Too much can't be said for the great things coming out of that studio nowadays. If you've been keeping up with the music news sites, you'll know what we're talking about and BODIES! are a testament to that. "Hurricane Bodies" is full of life, dynamics, and well, it actually even sounds like you have the best spot on the floor at a BODIES! gig. Imagine that, it sounds real.
The pre-order is now up in the USA store, and the UK store is soon to follow. The band is ready for touring. Get 'em now if your a fan of Black Flag or Black Sabbath, or hell, Converge...chances are you'll get your spastic fix all in one, right here. (NOTE:this recent Bodies! live pic was taken by Jill W.K., the least we can do is give her some cred for nabbing it: http://www.myspace.com/downassbitch812 -Thank you Jill!)
9 March 2006 | Engineer Is On 'Fire' in Italy
Thanks to the staff of Fire Alive (Italy) for showing us their ultimate fandom and support. Truly a great team over there, with an informative and current site. Click the image below and you'll find album reviews of some of our CD releases including ones from Andthewinneris, Madeleine, We.re All Broken, The Moirai, Elemae and Nine Days To No One amongst others.
ALSO, two interviews just went up, so head on over as they picked the minds of Nine Days To No One (england) and Elemae (usa) after taking well to their recent releases. A We.re All Broken interview is coming soon too, keep an eye peeled, we're on fire at Fire Alive!http://www.firealive.it 19 February 2006 | Get in line for the KOVER Assembly

Engineer Records rips the heart out of Canada, and adds KOVER to the family! Yes, the day has come for this very exciting announcement, as the water has been boiling for awhile now. After receiving their 'demo' disc and barely getting it out of our player here (and in the car, and in the headphones, in the alarm clock, and in the...) we befriended Kover and hit it off instantly. With razor sharp guitars, super tight rhythms, and low-depthful-melodic dueling vocals, our favorite bands were brought to mind, yet dare we say surpassed? Oh we just did.
With artwork nearing completion and 12 tracks ready-to-go, things are progressing fast and we hope to have their new "Assembly" full-length disc at your fingertips through our webstore in just a month or two. Official 'street date' to follow, but you can always get it right from us here, first.
More news on Kover to come, and Band/Release pages forthcoming. For now show them your love and get an advance listen on a couple tracks from the forth coming "Assembly" CD here: http://www.myspace.com/koverrock

12 January 2006 | Reigning Metal in Dingman's Ferry

Catalyst have taken a breather from their usually active gig schedule to chisel out some new material towards their next release, presumably a full-length slated for this Summer of 'O6. With an active 2005, promoting their split EP "Two Sides of The Suicide King," sharing many stages with the likes of The Red Chord, Turmoil, Bleeding Through and a slew of others, its about time the band settles into their Pennsylvania rehearsal room to mold some new material. When we asked the band to hint at the sound of the new material, they kept using the term...METAL as if they were saving the word from extinction.
In other news, Fugo has also taken to the studio and writing new material, as well as completing mixes of a few more songs left unfinished during the "AIE" sessions. It is yet to be determined what will happen with these songs, but more material from this intricate and creative group is NEVER a bad thing. Just check out the reviews section for their aurally appealing "AIE" cd.
All artwork and mixing is done for one of the newest additions to the Engineer family, FOR THOSE LOST. The band is just awaiting their material back from the mastering studio, and their creative blend of old school meets new blood metallic hardcore will go off for pressing.
15 December 2005 | The Fire Still Burns
In other news...melodic punk powerhouse, and recent Blackout Records (by way of Engineer/Koi) signees THE FIRE STILL BURNS are seeking a new rhythm section! And a solid one too, with the guts and glory to take it to the road, in no time. Here's their press release that went out this week:As some of you may or may not know, THE FIRE STILL BURNS recently parted ways with our drummer and bass player. Fortunately for the rest of the remaining members, the band is doing better than ever. With a recently released CDep out and several tours (US and Europe) in the works, we have no plans of slowing down any time soon. In fact, we are looking to replace our bass player and drummer as quickly as possible to prevent any further delay.
Were looking for new members at least 21 years of age or older who are 110% serious, dedicated and willing to tour regularly. Prior tour experience a plus but not required. You must have your own professional gear. We practice at least twice per week in Dunellen, NJ and anticipate playing shows regularly on weekends when not on tour.
Bass players must be able to play fast melodic hardcore in traditional tuning w/ drop D.
Drummers must be able to play fast melodic hardcore tempos a la Dave Wagenshutz (Kid Dynamite / Good Riddance / Paint it Black), Travis Barker (Blink182) and Bill Stevenson (Descendents / All / Black Flag / Only Crime).
If you've never heard us before, check out our MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/thefirestillburns
Seriously interested parties should get in touch by messaging the band via email to: info@thefirestillburns.com. Please pass on, repost , etc. Thanks for your help and have a happy and healthy holiday season!!!

NEW RELEASES ARE IN! We have a few new releases at our fingertips awaiting mass consumption! (Check both the UK and the USA stores for availibility on each title). They are:The enormous sound of NINE DAYS TO NO ONE's new "Ark" EP is nothing short of enthralling. Recorded at City Of Dis with Ben Phillips (producer of Converge, November Coming Fire, etc...) & artwork by David Ince, there was no shortcuts taken on presenting the masterful piece of art on CD. Both heavy and textural all within the same space. Truly needs to be heard. You can preview a track on our Myspace site here: http://www.myspace.com/engineerrecords
WE.RE ALL BROKEN's new limited vinly pressing of "Ambrosia" with 2 exclusive B-Side tracks has finally graced the offices of Engineer and Koi Records, in another one of our split label releases. Truly the packaging and the record (brown/green splatter vinyl) needs to be held, drooled over, and hung on your wall. Well that is AFTER you've worn out the grooves listening to their beautiful progressive ambient sound. This time they expanded their intense rock scope into a lush, orchestrated acoustic setting for 2 bonus tracks. To read more visit their band page, and to hear a sample, preview a track on our Myspace site here: http://www.myspace.com/engineerrecords
ANDTHEWINNERIS, well...us and you! As the band has their latest "The Punch and Judy Show" coming down the channels of Engineer, direct to your stereo. Brimming with power punk hooks, a guitar crunch reminiscent of Samiam and the sweetest melodic vocals this side of the Get Up Kids, Andthewinneris will not be left by the wayside. Not nearly newcomers to the scene, they are to Engineer, so let's welcome them with a standing ovation, something we are sure they are no strangers to in their hometown of Hamburg. 11 November 2005 | Nathaniel Sutton, biggest fan?!

Calling all Engineer fans out there...we are starting a 'Biggest Fan' section of our site for EXTRAORDINARY people out there who impress us with their ultimate dedication! This will be under the "FANDOM" link in the menu bar.
Let's kick things off with Nathaniel Sutton from Alberta, Canada. Well, lets just say Nathaniel 'paid his dues' by ordering EVERY release we still had available on the Distro on CD! Yep, we're not shy....this was above and beyond the call of duty. Someone buy this kid a record player so he can get some vinyl crackling in his bedroom as well! (hey, the folks at Engineer have holiday gifts to pay for too!) He wrote us his "fave list" of the lot, and we thought we'd post it. Thanks Nathaniel! Here it goes:
1. Neverthemore -
